ALL-STAR GAMES
All-Star games became a regular occurance in the Boston Men's Baseball League beginning in 1995. In 2001, the BMBL began their longstanding relationship with the Lowell Spinners, Single A Affiliate to the Boston Red Sox, playing the game at LeLacheur Stadium. (MABL) / National 12, American 9 (MSBL) In the 9th inning with the game on the line for the Bay State, the Tigers' Jon Pollard reached and stole second. With two outs, the Astros' Shu Susaki singled to left. Pollard attempted to score from second, but the Mariners Jeff Rausch hosed JP at the plate on a perfect throw to the White Sox Ivan Clemente to end the game. Jay Wisner of the Cutters picked up the win tossing 2 innings of 1-hit relief.

2005 | Score: Bay State 6, Atlantic 1 In the MSBL, the National League All-Stars defeated the American League All-Stars 7-2. Special thanks to John Gainey and Mark Fitzgerald for their hard work putting together this mid-season classic.

2004 | Score: Bay State 10, Atlantic 5 Site: LeLacheur Stadium, Lowell, MA MVP: Adam Howes, Dodgers Date: August 7, 2004 The Bay State team jumped out to a 6-0 lead at the end of one inning, but the Atlantic team fought back to as close as 7-5 before Bay State added some insurance to win 10-5. Adam Howes of the Dodgers was named MVP for his 2 for 2 performance with 2 doubles. Fellow Dodgermate Dan Petro was the winning pitcher of record. See pictures and much more.

6, Bay State 4 Site: LeLacheur Stadium, Lowell, MA MVP: Jon Mead, White Sox Date: August 20, 2002 Chris O'Sullivan (Braves) was the winning pitcher and Jon Mead (White Sox) was selected All-Star MVP for his 2-RBI double while giving the Atlantic a 2-0 lead at the time. 2001 | Score: Atlantic 4, Bay State 0 Site: LeLacheur Stadium, Lowell, MA MVP: Mark Doucette, Braves Date: July 29, 2001 In the MABL game, Mark Doucette of the Braves was selected player of the game, driving in 3 of the 4 Atlantic All-Stars' runs, and smacking a 2-run homer over the left field fence. Bryan Gauvin of the Yankees was the star on the mound, striking out 5 of the 6 batters he faced to start the game. Keith Umlauf of the Cubs also pitched a ninth inning without allowing a hit. For the Bay State, the big hit was a double off the bat of Gary Moran of the Rockies that nearly cleared the right-center field fence. Jeff James of the Cardinals also pitched 2 perfect innings. View MABL photo albums, rosters and more. In the MSBL game, the Perry All-Stars defeated the Booth All-Stars, 5-3. On the collaboration of 8 pitchers and some timely hitting and solid defense in the field, the Perry Division All-Stars were able to overcome an early 2-0 lead by the Booth Division and some fine pitching from Gerard Powers to take control of the lead in the 5th inning. Winning pitcher was Tom Tish of the Lexington Astros and closing the game pitching 2 strong shutout innings to get the save was Tom Manning.

Stars 4, "New" Stars 2 Site: Strong Field, E. Bridgewater, MA MVP: Brian Cooper, Rockies Date: August 13, 2000 The MABL was split between the veteran teams ("Old") and the newer teams ("New"). The New All-Stars jumped out to an early first inning 1-0 lead with a solo homerun by Conrad Paquette of the Pirates, the league's leading homerun hitter. But the Old All-Stars quickly regained the lead for good after a two-run homerun by Brian Cooper of the Rockies. Coop also pitched 4 scoreless innings of relief to close the game. The MSBL All-Star Day Extravaganza was Saturday, August 5th at Legion Field. This extravaganza included a league Barbeque, Homerun Derby, and All-Star Game. The Booth All-Stars defeated the Perry All-Stars, 7-2. See rosters, pictures and more.

1999 | Score: Western 1, Eastern 0 Site: Cleveland Circle, Brighton, MA MVP: Shane Steffens, Cubs Date: October 1, 1999 Due to rain on July 25th, the MABL All-Star game was postponed until the weekend after the MABL Finals. Shane Steffens pitched his way to a 1-0 victory for the Western. Due to the late date, only enough players to fill both lineups showed up. Sean McCarty of the Astros managed against Paul Schneider of the Braves. See complete rosters.

MSBL 5 Site: Breed JHS, Lynn, MA MVP: Bear Smith, Astros Date: August 14, 1998 Bear Smith of the Astros struck out 5 in two innings to pick up the win and also went 2 for 2 with a homerun at the plate. Pete Lawson of the Braves went 2 for 2 with a homerun, double, 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Adam Gabriel of the Dodgers, Sean McCarty of the Astros, Jon Reagan of the Braves, and Mike Landtz of the Indians also picked up multiple hits. Sean Kennedy of the Astros and Darren Henn of the White Sox each pitched perfect innings. Paul Schneider of the Braves was the winning manager. This marked the last year the 18+ division played the 30+ division in the All-Star Game. See rosters, pictures and more.
